1 God is our refuge and strength,a very present[b] help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, 3 though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.
4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High. 5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved;God will help her when morning dawns. 6 The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts. 7The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. [ Psalm 46:1-7]
Dear heavenly Father, until Jesus comes back, we, your people will live through all kinds of seasons together. 1 For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven…….4 a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.[Ecclesiastes 3:1,4]
As I sit here and wait for the kickoff to the Super Bowl I find myself reflecting upon this last week. What a wild journey life can be. Two friends get news of cancer- Kids get to perform for All County Chorus- the blur of work college and running the family from one event to the other. Is this what life is? Is there hope for us? News of wars-failing economies- one political scandal to the next-…what is all this?
As a dear friend of mine states…Would somome please slow the merry-go-round down enough so I can get on?
My conscience and sin rumble toward the main event in my mind and heart. Which dog will I feed? The flesh or the Spirit?
Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, (1 Corinthians 15:1-4 ESV)
